Overview of the MP3/Audio Software & Utilities being features @ MP3 MediaWorld:
Audiograbber is a beautiful piece of software that grabs digital audio from cd's. It copies the audio digitally- not through the soundcard- which enables you to make perfect copies of the originals. It can even perform a test to see that the copies really are perfect. Audiograbber can also automatically normalize the music, delete silence from the start and/or end of tracks, and send them to Fraunhofers acm codec or L3enc for automatic creation of MP3's. There are a lot more functions in Audiograbber, but to put it simply: Audiograbber has the most features one can wish from such a program! To upgrade from version 1.50 click here.

Musicmatch Jukebox is an all-in-one program. The program suite includes an encoder, player, CD-ripper, mp3 database, mp3 to wav, mp3 to cd and more. It's basically everything you'll ever need! The encoder is using Xingtech's engine which means good speed. It also supports VBR encoding (variable bit rates) and the program is surprisingly easy to use. The size of the program is rather big, but you will get lots to play around with. Click the link to go the to the MMJB site and download the latest demo version for free (the demo only encodes up to 96kbit/s).

AudioCatalyst is a great combination of a fast CD-ripper (Audiograbber) and a fast encoder (Xing MP3 Encoder). The program is very easy to use and has many neat features like CDDB (Compact Disc DataBase) for getting the name of the tracks automatically. From version 1.5 the encoder supports encoding up to 20 KHZ and is also capable of encoding VBR files. A demo is available, if you have the old version (1.x) you can upgrade to the new version for free!

WinDac is up there in the top with Audiograbber as one of the best rippers. Audiograbber is a little easier to use but WinDac is still a great and stable program packed with advanced features like plugins support. A free demo version is available, $23 for a fullversion is a little too expensive, but if you like it, register it!
